I drive a 03 450 miles. Today a beautiful warm day in N. California and twice I experienced the 2nd gear grind. This is my 2nd S so I am familiar with the subject. I thought that Honda fixed the problem. Any thoughts? Maybee I did not press the clutch all the way.

The only fix for it is a better tranny oil. With it warming up, Redline MT-90 is probably your best bet. I have tried several, and MT-90 works best. You may also check your clutch pedal for excess play. The pedal is adjustable, so if you have more than 1/2" of free play, you should probably adjust it out.

i have an '03 also, and the only time i girnd 2nd was b/c i wasn't paying attention and i didn't have the clutch in all the way, this only happened 2 times and they were both my fault. i hope i don't get the infamous 2nd gear grind that happens often(regardless of how the clutch is pushed in).

Rev-matching (heel and toe shifting) really helps a lot.
I believe the secret to shifting the S from 1st to 2nd is that the shift lever needs leftward pressure during the entire stroke.
