2nd gen Spoon air filter
Hey there,
I was wondering whether anyone here had experience with the 2nd gen Spoon drop in air filter with regard to filtering and flow?
Have found only feedback on the "sponge" version so far.
It seems Spoon changed some time ago from the sponge material to a multilayer polyurethane which is not washable.
So, do you think it's worth spending >100 bucks on this one?

I haven't seen any information to say the OEM filter is a restriction, in fact it flows a crazy high amount of air based on surface area and most people don't realize it has a built in velocity stack at the base.

That looks just as good as the OEM Honda filter, for a lot more money, but it is Spoon yellow and looks nice.

^ if you run your fingers inside the oem filter you will see the base plastic is radiused for smooth air flow, a number of aftermarket filters like K&N don't even do that they just give you a flat edge/block when the filter material butts up to the base. Not a big deal but it is a nice feature of the oem filter to have that, I am sure Spoon probably copied it.

This velocity stack thing seems to be of some importance. Great that Honda is taking care of such details.
In this video different air filters were tested on a flow bench and the guys also mention that velocity stacks are beneficial and that sharp edges are causing unfavorable turbulences in the filter.
Sorry for the German video ... turn on subs on YT.
