2nd gear pops out on downshift - Honda won't cover
newly purchased 06 s2 (2 weeks ago) with extended warranty through Honda Care (3yr/36k).
so when i downshift from 3rd to 2nd (usually when i'm about to hit a turn) second gear pops out right after it engages. happens more often then not. took it into honda today thinking that they would take care of it... i thought wrong.
so basically they're saying they can't get Honda Care to cover the issue until they know exactly whats causing the problem. that means they have to tear apart the transmission which requires me to authorize over $2k worth of service. in the case that Honda Care doesn't cover the issue... that means i'm out $2k, spent $2500 on the exteneded BS warranty, and am left with a messed up transmission.
asking for some advice on what i should do and how i should proceed with this. thank you in advance for any input.

What a pain, you might try a different dealer I have noticed that some are better than others on warranty issues. If that does not work you might go up the food chain and call the what I think is called the zone district manager they sometimes can help. If that does not work you could sue in small claims court. Sorry to hear your having problems.

also... do you know in california if i can return the extended Honda Care warranty. i heard also that you can return the car itself within 30 but i thought there was no 'cooling off' period. thanks again.

That makes no sense to me. How can a worn out clutch cause the transmission to slip out of gear?
To the OP
Like was said earlier I would take it to an other dealer, sometimes even just talking to someone higher up at that dealer. I went through the same BS with the CVT in a Murano I had a few years ago.

This is a well known ap2 tranny issue. There is a TSB on the issue.
