2nd gear popping out

2nd gear popping out
Okay.. I don't know if this is a big problem or not but recently I would be driving and when I shift to 2nd gear it would pop out. I don't know if I'm actually putting the gear all the way in but if I wasn't then there would be grinding noise, correct? What should I do?
Also, there is some kind of squealing noise at times when I brake. When I lightly place my foot on the brake there is this squealing noise that very annoying. It's not that loud but loud enough for you to hear. Once I'm coming to a full stop the squeal fades away. Do you guys think there is an object stuck somewhere to cause the squealing?
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Look at how low your pads are first.
Secondly, you may have a small rock caught between the pad and rotor. I would check to see that after checking the pad life.
Try to narrow it down to the side and possible if it is front or back.

The pads are squealing against the pistons when braking pressure is applied. To solve this, remove the shims (if fitted) and smear a small amount of copper crest on the both sides. If you don't have shims, apply it to the back of the pad.
Replacing the gear shift boots/spring may solve the 2nd gear problem.

OEM pads are supposed to squeal when they're getting low.. there are steel feelers that contact the rotor when the pad wears down. The sole purpose is to make that annoying squeal to tell you it's time for replacements.. So, it could mean it's time to change. Of course, it could be a couple other things mentioned above. I imagine it's not worn down pads though unless you track your car considering how new it is.

I changed my transmission fluid in August 08. As of right now I have approximately 25,xxx miles on the car. The 2nd gear popping out is not consistent though. It'll happen like once every other week or so. Not everyday or couple times a day. But with the squealing noise from the brakes, it doesn't happen every single time I brake either. It'll happen once or twice. I mean I haven't tracked the car at all and I drive conservatively so that shouldn't be the problem.
