Default 2008 motor swapped into a 2005... can it be done?

Hey guys,

I know most of you will tell me to search for the answer, but please believe me that i did. And i could not find squat. Ive had my 05 s2000 for a long time and i blew the motor. Now im in the market for a motor and i havent been able to find an 04 or 05 motor. I always see 2006+ motors for sale, but rarely see the 04 05 ones.

My question is this: with modification, can a 2006+ motor work in my whip? I hear that since i do not have dbw, it will be imposible to make this happen. I am not that educated with this stuff, but I do want to get my car back on the road and will be grateful for any information this great community has.

Thanks,

Mike

There are a few topics on this already...I'll try to find it and merge this with it. In short, with a few mods yes it will work. Search "trigger wheel" in UTH and you will have your answers.

Yes, it can.

Use your, Cam and Crank trigger wheels as well as the cam and crank sensors. Your old valve cover, knock sensor, and intake manifold. You will also need to get the Izzy Racing AIR simulator kit, as the 06-09 motors don't have the AIR system.

Your wiring harness too
