2005 2nd Gear Grind?
Bought my 2005 not long ago and the car has low miles. The feel of the shift through the gears is the best of any car I have ever driven.. except once in a while a get a grind going into second instead of the normal click click.... Thought I would tap into the wealth of experience on this board to get some feedback. Is there an issue with shifting into second or am I doing something wrong?
Appreciate the help...

Obligatory "search is your friend", but in an attempt to be more helpful, yes this is an "issue" with the 04/05 cars. Change your transmission fluid, smooth out / slow down your shifting, don't drive agressively until the engine warms up, check to make sure your clutch fluid is full, and check to see if your car is in the TSB range for replacing the 1st/2nd gear set and synchros.

Yeah your 1-2 shift should be slower, especially when the transmission is still cold. When you are making the 1-2 shift, move the shifter out of first and towards second until you feel a little resistance. Keep a little pressure on the shifter but do not force it in. You will feel the synchros matching up, and second gear will let you in. It feels like you are knocking on the door of second gear, and then it opens up for you. It may take some time to get it right, but eventually you will not be grinding into second at all.
I had the same feeling you had: like there is something wrong with my transmission. But ever since I figured out how to do the 1-2 shift I have felt much better. The 1-2 shift becomes quicker as the transmission warms up. And keep in mind that it takes the transmission longer than the engine to warm up.

errr. this has been covered before. first thing is change transmission fluid, bleed clutch fluid and change if you havent done so. shift faster once the car is warm. bring up the revs to 4000 + then try shifting. and if its still bad, try re-greasing your shifter and adjusting your clutch pedal ( read this one properly, if not adjusted correctly you can mess your clutch up ) . theres a DIY for everything i mentioned. report back and let us know what you did.
