Default 2004 Transmission Shifter Problem.

Just got my '04 today with only ~2500 miles. Everything is like new except when I shift the gears. The shifter is very very hard (or sticky). Esp. when I put it in 3rd or 4th, the gear is hard to be pushed out to N. It also makes the squeaky noise when I put in any gear. I can esp. hear it in 3 or 4th or when I push the shifter left to right.

I'm wondering what the problem could be? and want to know if anyone else has this problem? Would it need some lube? WD-40?

All gears seem to funtion fine. No sign of grinding or slips or anything.

I also feel the clutch pedal is esp. loose compared to my old 02. It is too loose to have 2500 miles compared to the '02 that I had. Should I change the fluid maybe because there is air in it? Or the slave cylinder is going bad?

yes i'd replace the transmissision fluid with Honda MTF and put fresh brake fluid in the slave cyl and bleed it until the fluid runs clear (new fluid). if that doesn't help, then it sound slike your throwout bearing may be going bad or atleast need to be greased. you can also take out the shifter stick and put more grey moly grease on the bottom of the shifter (Don't lose the white plastic bushing at the bottom of the stick, it likes to fall off) and see if that helps. if none of the above, you probably have something internal on the transmission going bad

the clutch pedal does feel alot softer compared to pre04's. in 04 they put that solenoid in to the slave that delays things. if you dont like it you can change it with the 03 slave and it will feel the same as it did with your 02

no trans issues or symptoms as you described with my 2004, i have 16600 miles on it, no repairs, no oil use, none, nada...just filter and fluid changes, still have oem tires. take it to the dealer it is not right and you just got it ...
