I plugged in my per-by-mile insurance device and found cylinders 1 & 3 misfired after I had bought the car. My 1st mechanic then scanned the car and confirmed it. He cleared the codes and they never came back.

At the beginning the idle rpm was jumping between 600-800rmp. Then it started to get worse.

A leak down test properly done will identify the cause of the low compression and you will then be able to determine if the engine can be repaired, or not.

Per the service manual the nominal compression is 228psi. The minimum compression, not that you'd ever want it that low, is only 135psi with a variation among cylinders of 28psi.

it looks like you would have a case against the dealership that provided the ppi for not identifying misfire codes that were present immediately when you took delivery of the car.

small claims court.

Where can one obtain an engine replacement? Would appreciate info if you or anyone else has this.

Thanks.

there are plenty of used ones on eBay, craigslist, facebook marketplace, etc. and there are a few new short blocks floating around. I personally know one race shop with 5+ F22C1 OEM new short blocks sitting in storage. There's one on ebay as well for ~6500$ or so.
