2002 S2000 Weak crank especially on cold start but good battery and alternator
I got a 2002 S2000 in Hawaii. It has a super weak crank on a cold start which will take 2 or 3 try’s and about 10-15 seconds of cranking in order for the car to start. Once it starts I have to keep the throttle at about 2k-3k rpms for a few seconds until it can idle on its own if not it will bog down and sometimes shut off. After the engine is warmed up, it still has a weak crank but starts easier most of the time. There has been 2 instances where it’s wouldn’t wanna start up even after getting it up to temp. It drives around perfectly fine tho once it is on. I’ve had the batter tested at autozone and alternator and they are both fine. It does have a viper alarm and an old apexi vtec controller, along with an AEM cold air intake and cat back exhaust besides that it’s all stock. The starter does seem like it may be going out soon but I don’t think that’s what it is. Any help?

You may want to do a compression test on the cylinders. By any chance, are you using an aftermarket pressure plate?
Thanks!
Thanks!
