2002 car + 2004 f22
Hey guys, not new to cars but new to s2000s. Ive done many of swaps on other vehicles but just not these and had a question before I started this. I have been reading for a few days trying to do my homework and have found a lot of info but I am still left with a question. IF this question has been answered before, please post a link and I will read, I do not mind reading...I just couldnt find it.
A friend has a 2002 and spun a bearing, he bought a 2004 f22 to put in it. I know the 2002 ecu "might" run a bit lean but that issue can be addressed when the car runs. The question at hand right now is, are the engine harnesses the same? Will the 2004 engine harness plug into the 2002 ecu and allow the ecu to read all of the sensors? If so, perfect, I dont have to swap over engine harnesses but if not, I would prefer, obviously, to swap the 2002 engine harness over to the 2004 f22 while the motors are out of the car and sitting next to each other.
So that is the question at hand now. Thanks guys and sorry if it has been answered...once again, feel free to post the link where it talks about engine harnesses.

Yes, you can use either harness. My F22 came with its harness so I just used it and plugged it into my AP1 ecu, has been like this for 70k+ miles without issue. There are no differences that i'm aware of.

I just did this an 05 f22 into a 01 that. I used the f22 harness it's the same and there's really no need to swap it over it plugged right into the f20 ecu and runs fine although I will be swapping the ecu's in the future. One difference to note is that the fuel line and rail is slightly different. If you don't want to trim your f20/ap1 fuel line you will need to swap over the f20 fuel rail onto the f22. Its not hard at all and also gives you a chance to clean everything up. Just be careful and don't loose any of the o-rings.

Ok, awesome guys! I was reading about the fuel line issue and all you have to do is "trim it"....what that means, I am not too sure yet and was just going to look at them side by side once I got the f20 out.

You don't have to trim anything if you swap over your f20 fuel rail onto your f22 engine. Assuming you are leaving the ap1 fuel line on the car (I don't see why you wouldn't).
I was also confused about this up until I started the swap and disconnected my fuel line and noticed the difference in the fuel rails. Like I said before it's really nbd and takes all of 15 minutes to do. Personally I feel that swapping the fuel rail(if possible in which your case it is) is the proper way to do it rather than trimming the line.

Ok so next question....the steering rack. I am thinking about just dropping sub-frame with the motor on it and just going from there. I notice the steering rack has quite a few plugs on it. Is it safe just to unplug them? I know on the Evo Xs that things need to be re-calibrated if you unplug the rack so you somewhat avoid that if you can. Are these the same way or can I just unplug it and plug it back in when im done?

Billman recommended me to lock the steering wheel before doing it to avoid damaging the clock spring!
