20 psi Turbo Engine Build

Fred, sounds like an exciting project. Keep us updated - based on how great your current turbo setup looks, I have high hopes.
Have you ever considered doing a little nitrous work, just to help the turbo spool up at lower revs?

Legal Bill: "The 20 psi of boost that you state as your goal should control the pistons/headwork that you do. In other words, with that much boost you will want a fairly low compression engine. If you are doing head work, this will help to lower the compression, provided you do not plane the head after the polishing and relief work is done. Do you know what you are doing to the head? You need to figure out what the size of the compression chamber will be first. Then, considering the 20 psi of boost, selecting the right pistons should be easy. But if you get pistons before you do the head work, they may end up being wrong."
Ill probably go with a new stock head, as I think there will be sufficient power without any head work.

For some reason, nitrous never appealed to me. Might be OK for street racing, but I'm not into that. I'll keep you all posted on the progress, but it might be slow. On occasion, I might need some volunteers for help.

Count me out of the group buy, could not wait. I just sent my engine to Golden Eagle for a complete rebuilt.
Closed deck ductile iron sleves, Crower rods, and JE 9 to 1 pistons. They will also balance the engine for harmonics, and rework the head. Price is reasonable labor and parts = 3400 and some change. It will take about 6 weeks
Wish me luck

Fred, the turbo-nitrous sets I've read about really don't do much for drag racing - it's strictly for low-rpm, off-boost situations. As in, it does a quick burst to help the turbo spool up and then shuts off. Gives you a flat torque curve with zero noticable turbo lag.
