2 Q's
When i am in gear and only when i am in gear, i get this ticking noise that sounds like a leaf stuck under my car. Since it only happens when i am in gear, i was thinking it was either the diff or trans? The noise isnt loud but i want to fix it so nothing happens. Would a fluid change be able t stop anything?(Im due) Anyone have any ideas? Also i remember seeing somthing on here a little while back about when some s2k's come to a stop, the cars rpm's drop and it seems like the car is going to stall out, I was having this happen when i parked in my garage today. Thanks in advance.. Dave PS Neither of them seem to bad, but i want to make sure i fix them before they get worse.

1. It doesn't need a TB clean. I've have an '00 and have never cleaned mine. This is a temporary issue that many S2000s have. Eventually, most of these cases, resolve themselves. The ECU just needs a few episodes to learn from and it should self correct unless you are trying to help it with throttle input to keep the revs up.
2. Details, details. You didn't mention of this ticking is associated with road speed or independent of road speed. Does it seem to come from the middle of the car or from the rear? At what speed? Any particular gear? Accelerating? Decel? Steady state coasting?
Who really knows. Since it due anyway, why not do the change and see. If you can do it yourself, it not too expensive. Just use the correct fluid. The diff fluid change would be more important than the tranny fluid. Do diff first.

oh.... sorry. The ticking has nothing to do with how fast i am going, it ticks as long as its in gear and it is very quiet. I cant tell if its in the middle of the car or in the rear, but its not in the front. It happens at all speeds , during accel and decel. And im gonna change the diff fluid asap, i already have everything needed to do it.
