Default 2.4L p0171 and p0170... duh?

So I just had my engine overhauled at 85k after spinning a rod bearing. I opted to do the budget 2.4L stroker using h22 pistons and k24 crank since #1 it's cheaper than building with f20c parts and #2 it was cheaper than buying a used engine (and #3... why the hell not?)

Low and behold I have it all back together now after the engine being at the machine shop for 4 months. After driving for 2 days I just had the CEL come on and it's throwing P0171 and P0170 - fuel system too lean. DUH.

Real question, is there anything relatively inexpensive I can do without a full AEM EMS or Kpro or any standalone ems? These are pretty far outside my current budget (and knowledge comfort zone)

Is it safe (loose definition of safe) to drive the car with this on and without full tuning?

runs amazing. very torquey. I also put in a 4.77 rearend last year so together... pretty awesome.

Can those 2 add fuel? I thought they could only cut fuel?

So is it unsafe (as in burn up the engine) to run the car with it like this?

I believe only the emangae ultimate can take away or add fuel. The best options would be AEM 1052 but ofcourse out of your budget. are you able to rev to 9k??

yes I think it would be for in the long run..basically a lean fuel mixture will detonate early and possibly destroy head gaskets, piston rings, pistons and even connecting rods.

Kool I may just end up doing the 2.4l stroker if something happens to my f20c but I HOPE nothing happens!

I guess technically I can rev to 9k. I haven't though. Seems pretty risky. Are there any marginally larger injectors i could install? Any way to increase fuel pressure?

Put an AEM or similar on it. The stroker allows you to lower the vtec cutover to around 3500rpm which changes the fuel/ignition requirements between 3500 and the original vtec changeover significantly.

If you get an AEM 1052 I can send you a dyno'd program for a 2.4 litre with stock head/cams/throttle and RC650cc injectors. Will save you a lot of frigging around.

Keep the revs below 8000rpm or your engine life will be very short.

is the emanage capable of lowering vtec and/or rev limit? The AEM is really too expensive for me right now but I have the change to get an emanage for relatively cheap. I've been shifting at 8k when i get on it just out of fear alone (makes for really quick shifts coupled with 4.77 diff)

I am concerned about this too and have asked in the past but never received a solid answer. I get these 2 codes whenever I go on a long distance trip (about 200 miles). I DD my car and around town and there is no issue. Usually the check engine light will reset itself after I get home and drive around town. Should I be worried? I have adjusted the FPR, which helped. All I have is the base NOVI 1000 kit. Should I be worried in the long/short run? Thanks for the help. (Again the check engine light only comes on after a long trip, never on when I am home)
