2.2L S2k motor in a 2001
Hey guys we are thinking of putting a 2.2L motor into a 2L s2k. what do you guys think and has anyone done it? how to make the 2.2 rev to the 9500rpm?? Please some input before we invest in this.

I would say that the swap is very possible and has been done.. I would not rev the F22 to 9500. It has a 17% Lower tolerance for revving that high. Some guys on the board have swapped their ECU's to the F20 from their F22 to make it rev to 9k but no long term results have been posted.. I would also be interested in seeing a dyno chart for the F22's running the extra RPMs I dont even think the cams/spring were designed to rev that high.. I say do the swap, leave the limiter alone.
Billman might be a good resource for this one.

thanks man. Hmm that means i gotta change my speedo cause mine is the 9500rpm one.. i dun wanna be blowing engines.. lol . Well i was thinking of the one on ebay for $4995 but i msged the guy to do it for under 4K. Worth it? so i can retain my F20 ECU??

Both engines and ecus are cross compatible. As Sargeant Handbag said, I wouldn't expect your engine to last long if you're reving out to even 9k with the 2.2L engine.
I'd personally buy a 2.2L ecu which you can grab off of Ebay for like 200-300 dollars. Or even get a shift shift light and make sure you shift when it lights up so you don't over-rev your engine.

Are you doing the F22 swap for the added displacement or did your engine die? You might consider the cost/benefit of replacing the F20 if you don't have to since the price of the motor (which aint cheap) isn't including shipping or labor to get it put in. All that $$$ could really go a long way with the 2 liter if you are just going for more power.

its been done time and time again
it will work fine
i personally run my 2.2 with an 00-01 ecu. 9500rpm is little too high for the 2.2. I have run 8500-limiter (9200?) with no issues yet. There is no advantage to running the 2.2 beyond 8500-8600 with the stock cams however, you should be shifting by then.
