2.2L piston slap?
Some time ago someone posted a audio clip of a random clacking noise from their 2005 during warm-up. I noticed I have the same noise. It only occurs after a cold start when I let the car warm up before driving it. About 1 - 2 minutes into the warm up when the revs drop to about 1,500 I get a clacking noise. Once the engine warms up it goes away. This is exactly the noise I heard in the other audio clip. I'm just wondering if maybe it's something inherant to the 2.2 liter?
If I drive the car before letting it warm up I never hear it.
Does anyone else get a clacking when they let their cold motor warm up at idle?

It sounds like the valvetrain noise that I used to have when the factory engine oil fill was still in the car for break-in. I did an oil change at 3500 miles to MaxLife Synthetic 10W-30 and haven't heard it since. I went with the MaxLife because it has a high molybdimum content for valve sleeve break-in. I switched to Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 at 15K. I have 25K now and still no sign of the valvetrain noise at start-up, or oil usage either. I really didn't like that noise. It was annoying and I'm glad it only took a switch to synthetic oil to get rid of it.
