2.25" exhaust piping?
I know on certain applications where tuners have gained by foing with smaller diameter piping.
Has anyone ever tried on an S or have any theory behind it?

The theory behind it would be using smaller diameters to maintan higher retained heat and exhaust velocities. Bigger is definitely not better in exhaust technology - it is how it is applied, and how much exhaust gas the engine produces. 2.25" is about the stock size of the pipes on an SVT Cobra - built up engines challenge that size (put aside the lousy clunky OE bends for now), and there are guys making over 500 rwhp and pushing 600 pounds of torque that have opted for nearly 3".
