1st gear whine fawwwwwkkk....
So, what happened is I went to jam 2nd gear, and ground the hell out of it. Nothing happened, i got it into gear finally. continued on down the road, came up to a stop sign. Went to put it in 1st gear, and I immediately noticed it didnt feel right. Very notchy going into 1st/2nd. I just figured I maybe bent up the syncronizer teeth a little bit and it would wear back in. So, continue down the road now knowing I messed something up. shifting from 1st to 2nd. I notice that when the car is rolling if I put it in 1st gear with the clutch pushed in I get a very loud whine(only 1st gear, not 2nd). The whine increases with speed. It is not noticeable when im driving in 1st, only when I push in the clutch and moving(no load on the trans).
This is definitely gear dependant, sounds like a bearing. I tried increasing the speed and making sure 2nd didnt make the same whine, and it didnt. The trans still runs fine, other than the noticeable noise. Only 69K on the car and trans. Ive owned the car 7 years now, never had an issue before.
Im assuming this is some kind of bearing on the 1st gear set, any thoughts on which one it could be? Ive rebuilt many many B series transmissions in the past, so im up to the task. Never had an s2k trans apart though.

Maybe start with simple solutions first by changing the tranny fluid. See if that helps with the sound. I'm not 100% sure but if it were me, that is where I would start first.

Are you sure you only started noticing it after that happened? I have always noticed faint gear whine in first gear on all my S2000s. Mostly when coasting, and engaging first.

Yeah. It started immediately after it happened. It's a pretty noticeable whine. I've been driving this car every day for 7 years, so...
From what I know about transmissions, it seems like its something on the input shaft strictly because it doesn't make noise until I engage the gear.
The main shaft is always spinning when the car is moving, input shaft only spins when put in a gear(with the clutch pedal in)
It's probably those deffective main bearings that are known to fail. I'll have to read up on that some
