I can live with the noise I just want to know that its not doing any permanent damage to the clutch/engine?

With regards to the gear change thing having read other posts I think my gearbox is ok, its just a bit fiddly - once you get used to it it does go into 1st easily.
I've had this buzz since day one. My clutch is the original and is now over 4 years old, over 53K KMs (the last 25K KMs with a supercharger). Many, many other S2000s of various model years have also been left with this buzz. Like I said, it's just a noise, but if it drives you nuts, then get a different clutch disc when a new clutch is in the "to do" list.

On the most part, the gearbox is the way it is because it is one of the most short-throw and most "precise" 6 speed manuals of any production car made. You may call it "fiddly" if you wish.

A little double-clutch will get you into first smoothly (plus it's fun). As for the buzz, I would be worried about them screwing something up while replacing the disc. How many times has something as simple as an oil change been screwed up by a dealer? Not worth the risk for a little harmless noise.
