1st to 2nd grind MY04
#11
My clutch has been bled many times. I have even swapped in a brand new AP1 slave cylinder. I have found it pretty common for the 1-2 shift on several S2000's to slightly grind when cold and the way I stop it is by allowing the input shaft some time to slow down before engaging the synchro when cold. Once it's slightly warmed up, all is good.
My cold 1-2 grind got a little worse when I went to a thicker fluid, but this is mostly a track car for me.

Also, on the 1/2 shift, make sure you are pulling straight back and only straight back. I know that I had a tendancy to keep the shifter pulled to the left when shifting 1/2. It took a fair amount of retraining to avoid that. 7700 is not very many miles. I would hope the gearbox/synchros would not be damaged in that amount of time.

Right, mine used to do this until....I read on here that when you pull back to engage 2nd, make an effort to keep 'force towards the left side rather than just slotting in straight back..it has made a big difference (once warmed up you don't need to do it)

The dealer likely used whatever was in the 55 gallon drum for tranny's.

...and if you buy oem fluid from the dealer, make sure they give you the correct studf.
The same parts dept that gave the dealer tech the wrong stuff is gonna make the same error when you walk up to their counter.

IMHO skip shifting is not detrimental to the trans life, I have driven all kinds of manuals and owned 27 cars, most of which were manual, from three speeds to 6 speeds, never had an issue with a skip shift, never. my current s2000 which has 75,000 skip shift miles on it shifts like butter when warm.
