My driving habits are much like yours. I'm mostly 75% city though. I average 17-18 mpg. Idid all freeway a few times going back home and got 29 mpg. Don't worry.

Also, I have heard/read that you need to do your calculations over a few tanks of gas to get a better count of your MPG. Might increase your number a little bit.

I have noticed since its been much colder the past few weeks I have only been getting like 250-260 to a tank, I am normally up around 300 per tank.

Last night, I was at 250 miles and my fuel light was on, I only ended up putting 9.7 gallons. That filled the tank up too. So, For some reason I was gettng pretty good mileage this tank.

Also forgot to add, I have been doing all top up driving and probably 85% highway and 15% City. With a good amount of traffic on the highway so I am shifting alot(almost stop and go type traffic).

250/9.7 = 25.6 mpg. The cold really don't have much to do with mpg, just the amount of gas you can get into your tank.

I get about 17-19 mpg top's, usually closer to 17 and I drive balls to the walls. If you only punched it a couple of times, you should yield more than 18.4 mpg. I'm sure if I ran a tank full of gas on the highway and kept the car at a steady speed the whole way, at say 70 mph, (that would never happen) I think I would get 22-23 or better mpg.

I know you have 1,900 miles left on your oil change interval, but seeing as this car is new to you, you may consider just doing the change right now. Do you know what type of oil is in your car? What weight is it? Consider going full synthetic. Mobil 1 is a very good motor oil.

No matter what oil you choose, at least you know what is in your car. By the way, if you didn't already know, you are supposed to check your oil level every time you fill up with fuel.

Peace brotha

What I would do if I got a used car would be to change:

Oil/ filter
diff fluid
clutch fluid
tranny fluid

Ah heck, brake fluid while I am at it.

That way I know they had been changed and WHEN they had been changed.

another vote for changing out all the fluids. good call.

and the cold shouldn't have much of an impact on mpg right? im not sure why that is a point of concern.
