Could this hurt our high compression high revving engines?

I dunno.I buy gas from a station down the road that expressly states on his pumps that his gas contains no ethanol. It also reads that he pays more for it but you'll like it. That said...since I've had mine I haven't run ethanol gas to my knowledge. I do know that the environmentalists that initially pushed for its use are now stating that it pollutes more than gas without it. Not to mention how it has driven up the price of corn products by locking up a good portion of the corn crop.

Ethanol is higher oc rating than gas. So in theory no.

Things like injectors might not like it.

I think it would be fine in terms of octane and high compression motors, it seems to lower fuel economy though which in theory means lower power, and rubber parts may deteriorate quicker.

most people dont actually know that higher octane means less power. ethanol i believe is 94-96 octane. it does burn alot colder and will let you safely bump timing or boost

Until someone does believable objective testing of the true effects of ethanol laced gasoline, I don't think anyone outside automotive/petrolium engineers can draw any conclusion as to what the long term effects may be.
We can only assume thats it's safe since so many of us have no choice but to buy and use it.

The Obama administration said in October that gas stations could start selling the ethanol blend for vehicles built since the 2007 model year, increasing it from the current blend of 10 percent ethanol.
at least my04 is exempt, but how are they going to enforce that? put a cop at the pumps?

Just take a peek at the turbo section. Several people run E85 with no problems (w. ECU and injector upgrades).

Actually, reread the press-release: refiners are suing EPA to avoid consumers paying less for fuel. It is not MANDATORY, it allows retailers to engage in legal commerce that they requested. The age limit is because modern cars don't have the lousy seals.

Now subsidizing, an already subsidized fuel, is a genuine concern. A real solution is to allow the importation of cane alcohol, and spend the subsidy on switchgrass.

Expect reduced MPG, as ethanol provides less BTU's by volume. Not to mention No stock S2K was designed to run on 15% Ethanol. I'd be expecting P0171 Fuel metering Lean DTC's and possible damaged catalytic converters.

interesting read: http://wot.motortrend.com/report-e15-ethan...icles-9604.html

check out some of the comments, people with older cars such as 300zx and older rx7's experienced complete fuel system failures from using 10%.

Honda All Honda vehicles should use the fuel recommended in the owners hand book. The following models will operate satisfactorily on E10:Insight (2004 onwards), Civic range (including Civic Hybrid) - 2004 onwards; S2000 - 2004 onwards, CRV - 2003 onwards, MD-X - 2003 onwards, Accord & Accord Euro - 2003 onwards.Honda does not recommend E10 for other vehicle models because there may be drivability issues.
