i wouldn't worry about the timing chain. it is usually a lifetime part and never need to be changed (unless under extreme circumstances).

Valve adjustment, brake fluid change, coolant service....or did we do the valves when we did the axles?

Yeah Razor is right, the timing chain is suppose to last the life of the car!

I would Solicit some "Professional" opinions on the timing chain life expectancy. It is a simple fact that chains stretch, and if the chain or spocket(s) fail - new engine

Congrats on 120k miles!!!

Although I have heard some people trying to change the chain before because of what Rusty1206 said, I have also heard people of literally like 2 chains snap/fail in my life (actually a quote from my father and he's been around cars for 30 years). That being said, I'd be tempted to change it if it is not overly expensive I would probably do it as preventative maintaince.

Regardless, congrats on the reliability!!! I also got to ask . . . do you launch your car? It's awesome to hear that you haven't had any differential problems.

How many sets of tires?

Again, I agree with just stay on top of the maintaince, and change the things that may need to be changed if you haven't (plugs, etc). Anyone else this high yet? Good to hear such stories. . .

Can you tell us if you drive at high RPMs on a regular basis? How often do you VTEC your engine? I'm very curious about driving habits vs. longevity. How often did you change the oil? Do you use synthetic oil? Do you change the oil yourself?

Is it not true that you will hear a timing chain rattling long before it causes catastrophic failure? Unlike a timing belt that will give no audible warning prior to snapping and destroying an engine's top-end! Don't bother chaning it IMO (especially if you are using synthetic oil).

Well, I probably don't qualify as a professional but I've got a bit of experience with such things.

Generally speaking, you shouldn't need to worry about the timing chain. If you were doing an engine overhaul (valve job, rings, etc.) I'd probably do a timing chain change at the same time but only if the chain were toward the end of it's service limits. The manual should show specs for the chain tensioner and/or any normal free play on the chain itself that would give you an idea of where the chain is in it's service life.

If you do change the chain, it's a very good idea to change the gears on the cams and crankshaft as well. If the chain is worn to the point to justify changing it, the gears will be too. Putting a new chain on gears with 120k+ miles will only serve to accelerate the wear and tear on the new chain.
