the cost of making your car rev that high and make power would probably cost more than a bike.

From a couple years back:
Regarding max. torque, etc. I do not have any dyno results but I launch at 10500 RPM. The engine RPM falls to ~ 9200 RPM at launch and never gets below ~ 9000 RPM in the gear changes. I try to shift at ~ 11500, and have the RPM limiter set at 11750.

To be honest, it seems like its still pulling at 11700. I will try to dyno this winter and will have a better idea as to max. torque rpm, etc. I think the motor only making ~ 165 lb ft. of torque (this is purely a guess based on the clutch setting required to just slip the clutch at the launch).

Regarding valve to piston clearance, I have a ton. That's why I can move the cam around so much. Regarding valve to valve clearance, if I reduce the lobe separation to less than ~ 109.5 or so the valve to valve clearance is ~ .040", without lash.


Update !!!!

I set a new NHRA 1/4 mile national record this weekend at the NHRA Sportsnationals.

I ran an 8.125 @ 161.19 on Friday, then ran a 7.996 on Saturday. The previous national record for my class was an 8.20.

I qualified #2 and ran a 1.078 60' time.

I damaged the transmission on Sunday during eliminations, but plan on attending the NHRA divisional race in Ennis, TX this weekend.

The latest ESTIMATE on rwhp is ~365 or so and ~185 lb ft. of torque. The enigne is now 128 cid, not 122 cid as of this year.

From what I've read the valvetrain weight is a big limiting factor when revving these engines high. That Greenlight guy from what I remember has removed part of the VTEC mechanism from the head so that it only runs on the "high" cam, the "low" cam cannot be engaged. This dramatically reduces weight and forces on the valvetrain and allows the engine to rev a lot more freely on the top end. He's taking the stock cams to 11,000 rpm isnt he?

actually sounds pretty cheap and easy to do, it just wont be very streetable. Remove some stuff from inside the head and get an EMS so you can remove the limiter. Might cost you more than a Ninja 250, but that's not terribly expensive. You just dont want to drive that car on the street, haha

No, the stock cams don't make power in that range.

Im looking for more protection. I over reved and bent some valves. I have frerra valves, toda springs, and frerra ti retainers and was just wonndering if it would be enough to keep this from happenning again

It will give you a fraction of a second more to react prior to destroying your engine.

invest time into learning to drive before you invest money into compensation for your inability to put the car into the right gear.

seriously though. if you drive the car well you wont have any issues with the 9k rpm limit.

I dunno about the driving issue. I have a client who owns 3 GT3s and a 800+ whp Porsche 911 Turbo and he was cruising along at around 80 and mishifted into second instead of fourth. He races with NASA, FARA, SCCA, etc and mishifted. So I don't think it has everything to do with "driving skills". People do make mistakes.
