Default 10 months of waiting...now what

It's been a while since I've visited. As a result of moving and an injury my S2k was put away unplanned 10 months ago and so went my interest in the forum.

Well, my interest is back as is my beloved after being relegated to the darkness like an unwanted step child. The car is a 2004 with only 19k miles...so I ask, what needs doing before I turn it on and put it to the road?

I assume oil, filter, recharge battery/replace, what other fluids should be replaced as they are original, and lastly what do I do about the gas? It presently has a 1/2 tank.

I read through some old posts but they are consistently contradictory and only contributed to my confusion rather than offering any clarity about what should be done.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The best thing to do is drain out the gasoline, since some of the blend components have probably broken down by now. Also, drain and flush the fuel pump, filters and injector lines. Lots of work.

Another, less optimum, solution is to fill the tank up with high quality, premium gasoline, add some fuel stabilizer, and burn off the old fuel in a long leasurely (non-Vtec) drive.

Also, after draining and changing the oil (hopefully with a quality synthetic), turn the engine over slowly several times before trying to start it. Then pull the spark plug wires and turn over the engine with the starter several times for 30-60 seconds each time.

Regards,

Al

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it. I'll get to it this week. Have a case of Amsoil synthetic waiting. Should be ready for that leasurely drive by the weekend.
