I believe the Clutch rod adjustment will help with that, I know this is done hydraulically but it does change the engagement point.

If I had this issue, I would definately try it.
Iv'e heard this as well. I tried it, but it didn't help me.

you mean "carbon coated" syncro's?
No... I'm pretty sure I read that they were carbon fiber. The Ap1's had brass.

Are you 100% sure?
I am not 100%, but I would bet on it. It makes sense to me and I trust the source of infomation I recieved (not from S2ki)

I'll bet you the opposite. It only makes sense to have more sycro's on 2nd

so if you ever get that grind... be prepared to buy a new trans like me... bc its about to go... mechanics price on a honda tranny is 3400 spoon tranny 2600(rebuild) used with 90 day warranty 1200

that grind is bad news!!!!
just took it out one day.. and normal driving.. into 2nd... gone...
this is false information.

MANY people have the grind.

i've been grinding since Day 1 (oct. 16, 2003)

I have 91,000 miles and my tranny is still working fine.

the typical grind problem is user-induced...the synchro's are grinding.

sure it causes minimal damage...but does not mean the tranny will go.

my thought, is that your tranny had a SERIOUS problem...

grinding does not indicate a failed tranny.

Find a mag discussing the changes in 04 when the AP2 trans came out and tell us what is described with the updated syncros. It was a wile ago so I may be mistaken but I think I would have made the distinguishment between the two then.

it is carbon something, but not carbon FIBER.

i do not like gm syncromesh fm, it doesn't last long before it gets notchy again.

the NEW honda MTF is the best so far, for me.

ur best bet when first driving the car from dead-cold is to rev the motor slowly in each gear (till about 5,000rpm) then shift gears slowly until it goes in on its own accord. I do this every morning. The motor warms quicker than the tranny fluid, so its best to not shift quickly even though the motor is warmed.

sidenote: gm synchromesh sucks. I had it in my B16 civic and all it did was inhibit quick shifting. Honda MTF is def the way to go.
