0w-20 Oil at Honda Dealers
I noticed Honda is now selling "Honda" oil made by Mobil in 0w-20 grade. I asked the parts guy about it and he said "all" Honda models in 2004 are going to be using that.
I wonder if such weight oil will be ok in older S2000s. I might try that weight in Mobil1 synthetic, well maybe in cooler season. There may be some advantages to the lighter weight with faster startup lubrication, perhaps less pumping power loss, etc.
Thoughts?

My inclination would be to use 5W30 or 0W30 to improve lubrication on startup, but would probably stay with the recommended high temperature viscosity. What little you gain in pumping losses may not be worth the difference in the reduction of lubrication at full temp.

[B]If the air temp is normally around 60-80, as it most often is here in San Diego, using such a low rating will only cause the oil to more throughly drain from your engines moving components when your engine cools.

This discussion of the merits or 'demerits' of 0w-20 is interesting, in that Honda will be recommending this weight in its 2004 lineup to be sold in the United States. I can understand a Civic (not to be a diss) but whether or not the S2000 is included in this remains to be seen for me to believe.

0w20 is only recommended in the Insight and Civic Hybrid. I'm not sure where the parts guy got his info- I am pretty sure that it is inaccurate. I have seen nothing published that all 04's will use it.
