Default 09 Timing Issue

Ok guys this is my first post and unfortunately its a negative one. I have an 09s2k with 63,000. I just purchased it a month ago and I just getting a feel for the car.

Here is the issue. The previous owner did a mod where you can start the car without having to push the clutch in... Which I am not a fan of. Well today I was in a rush and super distracted and I started the car while it was in first gear and obviously the clutch was not in. The ebrake was engaged but the car started to go but I let go of the engine start button after realizing what was going on. Now the car seems sluggish and lacking of power. Could I have messed up the timing ? Please dont bash me im just here to learn

There's no way you messed up the timing by just starting it while it was in gear.
Are you sure the far feeling sluggish is not just in your head from you being worried you did something?
I know that I've noticed phantom issues in cars before after something went wrong. Any little odd creak or noise makes me think something's wrong.

As much as it hurts us inside to start the car in gear or stall the car in gear I don't see any way how it could mess up the timing.

As long as you didn't run into anything... the car should be good to go.

I used to do this, from time to time, on my old VW Bug --- while learning to drive and operate a stick. Thank goodness, that car had a hefty starter.
