Default 04 Second Gear Tranny Pop!

So I have a 04 s2000 I have it for about a year now and recently for the past 3 months I have been getting problems with my 2nd gear it dont go in sometimes or scratches or pops out..I when I bought the car I got the warranty they offered me motor and tranny. Well it happens sometimes not all the time but when it does it makes me so mad. I went to honda and asked them and they said they have to take a look at it but I have to pay like $400 for the mechanic to look at it and tear it apart and thats IF he even finds anything wrong with it or else they said I can Leave my car with them and they drive it untill it happens then once it happens they have to submit it to the warranty and see if they cover it. They said is they dont find anything then I have to pay the $400 plus labor of putting everything back together. I told them well it dont happen all the time he says well you will have to pick one opinion leave it there or make them pull it out and see if they find anything...I asked him what was the point of the motor n tranny warranty and he didnt have an answer for me and I said that the 04 had a problem with them and he said it was only some of them not all. Idk what I should do?? Do I have to wait until the tranny falls or something? This pissed me off about honda

I'd try a fluid swap. Have you changed it since you've owned it? How many miles are on it? Mine has popped out of gear a handful of times, but it hasn't in almost 2 years. Honda revised it's MTF last year I want to say and it's a much better fluid.

had the same issue with my 04 about a yaer ago. I let the dealership know what was happening with my car and that I knew there was a TSB report on the issue. I left it at the dealer, they were able to replicate the problem and fix everything under warrenty.

^ That's some warranty you've got, but since it's 2010, none of us fall into that package. Do you know what work was performed on the car?

I bought the car used in 08 and bought the 3yr/35k warranty. Paid 100 bucks out of pocket

If the tsb applies it is a lifetime repair. If you bent a shifter fork its on you.
