ya i have about 20000 miles its an 02' and its done it for as far as i can remember, its a random thing, never does it until about halfhour+ after it was first started for the day.

Do you know if the car has ever had new transmission fluid put in? I would start with that and see if it helps. There are lots of threads of alternative fluids that you can try in the tranny, but you might as well start with the Honda MTF to see if it makes any difference. It is cheap, readily available, and is Honda's approved fluid.

I have an '03, about one month old. After the 600 mile suggested breakin period, I tried a few fast 1-2 shifts near redline. It grinds more often than not (70% plus probability).

If I shift 1-2 in the 7,000 - 8,000 rpm range, never a grind. No grinds in the other gears at near redline.

Also, I experienced some significant clutch slippage when I attempted some fast standing starts one evening. The problem does not appear during normal driving, and I hope further breakin will make it go away. I'll retest before long.

Billman 250 did you get your car and did it have the grind? If so did you open up the transmission?
