'03 with Gear Grinding
My 03 only have 3500 miles and frequently grinds gear shifting from 1st to 2nd on high rev (7K+). I did few searches and found older models of S2k had this problem and Honda supposely fixed this problem in 02+. Am I the only one having this problem? (and please don't tell me to learn how to drive a stick shift. I had 2001 M5 and I never had this problem.) I'm looking for serious answers here.
I took my car in for first oil change today and talk to my service advisor about this. I have an appointment next week to look at this problem. Anyone have any insight on this?
Thanks in advance.

Interesting...
So, should I accept the fact that this is normal or should a mechanic tear up my transmission and/or clutch to fix this "old and existing" problem?

No offence, but a lot of people slack off during shifting, and even though the reaction of the tranny may not be obvious in other cars, it is with the S2000. The tranny is very compact and precise in the S2000.
The transmission gets notchy and grinds if you don't follow the gates precisely. Otherwise, the transmission is only notchy when cold.

Try a different transmission fluid. People have had luck with GM Synchromesh, Redline MTL, etc.

No offence, but you can't really claim that all those who get the grind don't know how to shift. Maybe your trany is perfect, that does not mean everyone else who's complaining does not know how to shift. Just like some s2ks burn more oil than others, maybe not all of them are the same.

The thing I'm trying to say is I've seen quite a few people who get lazy shifting, and grinding in the S but not in the other car.

Sorry, it's still not clear what your point is
In my case there was no grinding when the car was new (after it warmed up), it just seems like lately it's getting worst every day. It's not like all of a sudden I've forgotten how to shift
I do plan to get the oil changed soon and expect it to improve things a bit.

Maybe I was not clear, but my tranny does grind once in a while. At least it used to.

I have an '03 with a little over 1,300 miles on it. I just experienced the 1-2 grind for the first time. I had only been in my car for about 5 minutes and did a fast shift at about 8,500rpms. I drove it later and after giving it some more time to warm up, it didn't grind again when I did another fast shift. So, I'm thinking that the grind in my car is probably related to the transmission warming up, how dirty the transmission gear oil is, and how fast I shift. If it starts doing it more after the transmission is fully warm, then I'll change out the fluid.
