01 s2000 misfire

You are looking for .008 on the intake side and .010 on the exhaust side. Check the top of the valves to see if they are sunk in while you are in there. There are pics you can find in the forums of spotting a cracked retainer from the top.

So what u guys think? Just go ahead and start pulling the motor apart? I put the new coils in all misfire codes came off (yes i reset the cel codes) all it shows now is p1399
Misfire detected. Thats the only code left that shows. Has to be something with the valves cylinder 2 is the only one with low compression.

Oh and after i did the compression check the first time the car got extremely worse. Now when i drive the vehicle after its fully warmed up itll hesitate hardcore to accelerate. U cN even hear the car misfiring while driving at a steady speed. The engine light will now not stop flashing.

No never tried that. But no the engine got worse on misfiring after i did the compression test it just wont stop misfiring now. But yes i replaced the coilpacks all 4

doing the compression test with the oil is going to give you an idea of whether the problem is the cylinder wall/rings, or valves. Worth a try before you start tearing the engine down.

re-do the compression test with a bit of oil added to the cyl. You will know where you stand.
