Hah! I'd rather they say "$4/quart" and don't need a "discount" to begin with. I'm honestly surprised they have stuck with their marketing scheme and haven't tried to do something more mainstream. I guarantee you that if Pep Boys and Autozone started carrying it their sales would go up.

So, what's your testimonial? Why are you using it?

I was just browing the Amsoil site. They have something new called the Preferred Customer status: https://www.amsoil.com/preferred.htm

That will save you 20% off retail. Retail for a quart of Amsoil 10-30 is $5.70 - so the discounted price would be $4.56/quart. If you buy gallons, the cost comes down even more.

I don't have a specific testimonial - my only reason for buying it is the recommendation of people I trust - I know, not real scientific.

I've seen where the flash point is a tad higher and ash content a tad lower than M1, but that stuff changes so often it's hard to keep up. Hell, M1 has reformulated I think twice in the last 2 years.

I've been buying (and will likely continue to buy) M1 in the 5 quart jugs when Wal-Mart has them for $18 apiece. When not, I hit Costco and pick up a 6 quart box for $21. Roughly $3.50 a quart.

That is a great price...plus you don't pay shipping.

I'm not aware of M1 making any of those claims. Don't confuse IT with infomercial-marketed stuff. As for spending money on it... maybe you make enough money, but I bought my car by saving money, not throwing it away on things I don't need.

I never stated that M1 ever made those claims.

Now that everything is cleared up with this post, I respect that you don't want to just throw away money on something that doesn't appear to have that great of an advantage over another. But I have read all the tests regarding Amsoil and that is what sold me. That and the fact that you can go longer without having to change the oil. So the increased change interval for the Amsoil also helped in my decision to purchase and use it. Since you can go longer without changing the oil, I feel the costs would be offset and become even with M1 which you have to change more often.

I apologize if I was being a bit harsh.. but I tend to be that way at times..

I have been using amsoil for years in my 92 integra gsr. actually since new. It runs great with 132k and still purrs at 8000 RPM.I am using amsoil 0-30 in my s2000. It is the best, amsoil offers currently. It is more expensive, but it is worth it to me. Just as zaino is to some people. Like everything else it is personal taste. I will also probably but their diff fluid in her as well.

Has anyone tried Amsoil differential fluid? Many years ago I used it in my RX7 which had a ported Racing Beat 13B engine which I Turbocharged, running 12 psi boost. This car had tons of horsepower (had a tendency to go sideways if you wern't careful)and lasted me 7 years without any problems. Sold it to a friend who kept it for 4 more years before he sold it. Never had any rear end problems.

Does Amsoil make trany fluid?
