Thumbs up -=[ Super duper quick POLL ]=-

Hey all,

My clutch pedal is a wee-bit sticky at the bottom of the pedal stroke, but from middle to the top of the stroke, it moves smoothly.

POLL: What's causing this?

a) Clutch pedal rod needs to be greased.
b) Slave cylinder rod nipple/ball thingy needs to be polished and greased.
c) Clutch fluid needs to be bled (just recently changed out fluid though).

Thanks! I'm watching Battle of the Supercars on SPEED and my mind is incapacitated right now.

i would vote b. new urea grease in that joint lubricated the pedal action for me.

but as a quick check make sure you have enough clutch fluid.

When you say it's sticky at the bottom, do you mean on the way back up from the bottom the pedal sticks? How badly?

Sounds like a bad slave cylinder to me, but I'm no expert. Just getting my vote in to see if I'm right

We could guess all day at this online but I cast another vote for it being worn and sticky internals on slave cylinder.

Throwout guide could be dry.
Groove in the throwout bearing could be dry.

That is what happened to mine. I had to replace the guide and release bearing and fill the channel in the release bearing with super high temp urea grease. No more sticking at all. Also make sure the spline is clean (not rusty) and lightly greased with the super high temp urea grease too. Make sure the disk slides freely on the spline without snagging.

This problem is usually always:

-Ball end of slave dry/no grease

-Tips of fork fingers dry/no grease. Pull slave, pull out fork (not all the way it wont come out) use a screwwdriver, put a tiny dab of grease on each fork tip.
