Billman, any tips on how to get the TCT out without losing the piston? I plan on pulling it for blasting...why does everything Honda makes always have tct issues? I have a '91 cbr600F2 and the tct was bad on that as well as the '01 F4i that I had.

Find a local sandblasting company, bring them the gear, and ask them to 'deglaze' the gear. Sandblasting WILL remove metal, so it's best done by someone who knows their equipment, and the media they're using. Based on Bilman's comments, you don't want to change the dimensions of the gear, you just need to roughen it up (remove the polish).
Don't know what this will cost, but I found 6 Sandblasters in Rochester, NY so anyone should be able to find someone locally..
Do NOT beadblast the gear. This is a different process entirely and won't provide the finish Bilman is suggesting.

I used Mobil 1 10w-30 Synthetic, the TCT started to get very loud, so I switched to Valvoline synthetic about 4,000 miles ago, and the noises are gone.
