Two interesting S2000 things today. A guy at work asked if I was still driving the S2000 during the Winter. I said "yup!" and we talked about how they're only ~$15k used. I know his wife, and she likes the car. He joked that she said he could buy one if he could fit two car seats in it. I said, "trunk."

Another guy at work (who's ridden in the S2000 and knows about the RS4) told me about his new Accord. It was kind of a Honda bonding thing and he felt comfortable enough that I'd appreciate the Honda engineering. I gave him props because it's one heck of a car for the money (FWD aside).

I like the approachability that the S2000 brings with it. They don't have to know it's modified. I don't think I'd have had the same exchanges if we had all luxury marques. Maybe they still would have, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't go talking about Tag Heuers to a Rolex collector....

I like the "everyman" sports car appeal of the S2000. It's inexpensive enough that people could buy it, so that takes away some of the jealously at this level.

That's my hypothesis, anyway.

I will be once I get one, a snob that is . Just been trying to figure out if I want used or new. By the way this is my first post, a meaningless one at that. I guess at least I won't have anyone telling me to "search".

 

If I wanted to be a snob, I wouldn't have bought a Honda!

But seriously, that is one of my favorite things about the S2000: it is incredibly entertaining, still attractive (in my eyes) after all of these years, and it's still just a Honda! I don't have to worry about getting flipped off or yelled at like I have been in cars that cost 2-3 times the price of the s2k, and I don't have to worry about parking it in most neighborhoods.

 

I hate snobs, conceited, and stuck up people. Especially girls...
Anyways, it's just a Honda, but it means a HELL of a lot to me. I could care less what people thought, although it's nice they also appreciate a fine piece of automotive machinery.
Hell sometimes I feel like a snob just owning an S2000. I never look at other people when I drive. Maybe I'm too modest.

 

If my Honda was stock, it'd only be worth what I paid for the Winter beater....

I drive whatever I want to drive, dress the way I want to dress, and do the things I want to do, without regard for what others think. I don't think of it as making me better or worse than anyone else, but it seems a little bold, and may be the ultimate form of snobbery.

 

I'm bored.

And my car is still sitting in the garage... injectorless.

It's making me a little crazy.

C'mon FedEx... where are my PARTS!!!!

 

 

Monetarily the S2k was a downgrade for me and I couldn't be happier. I don't have to worry about taking this car anywhere, if anything really bad happens I would just buy another one. I will only worry when they no longer make these little buggers. I was talking with a friend just the other day and while I am a porsche fan, its hard for me to think about spending twice the money on a boxster S, when it comes time to replace the little S, unless I have a family and "need" a bigger car I wouldn't hesitate to get another one.
