Hey... the S isn't an 8???? I paid a little extra for an 8... the dealer said it was rare... now I find out I've been gypped???? What the heck... I'll never get my money back outta it...

I agree with the point about assuming everyone knows about the car. I find most people have no clue.

I've had many people say, "Nice Porsche". One of the funnier experience is I was dropping a friend off to pick up his beater from the exhaust shop. Some guy and his girlfriend are there and run up to the car and ask:

They: "Wow, what's this thing got in it?"
Me: "Oh, just 2.0 L 4 cylinder"
They: (the look of disappointment)
Me: "But it generates 240 HP and revs to 9000 RPM"
Him: "Shit, I've got a 8 cylinder that barely gets that!"

Turned out he owned one of the old trans ams from the early 80s.

It's not so much that I expect everyone to know about the car. But I get a lot of people making comments about the car, as if they are extra knowledgeable about it. That's when it's a little annoying, when they are obviously just talking out of there ass.

I have a friend who's "really into cars" as well, and bought a G35 Coupe Auto recently.

When I got my car,

Him: "It's Turbo'ed right?"
Me: "No"
Him: "Oh, so it's just a 6?"
Me: "It's a 4 banger"
Him: "Oh"

They always look disappointed. But I would too if I didn't know any better. A NA 4 banger is about as boring as it gets. But like I said, if I didn't know any better.

Well i don't expect people to know all the specs on my car, most of the time if they direct me to thier car i couldn't tell you a thing about it. But these people should not be telling me my car is available in a v8 model and mine is the slow version, just so they can feel better.
