Default Which year AP2 should I buy? 04-05 or 06?

I'm in the market for an used AP2.

it's either gonna be 04,05, or 06

I think 04 and 05 are the same?

and VSA, DBW, and break assistance? was added for 06 model if i'm not mistaken..
do these hinder with the driving experience or enhance?

i want an opinion from someone that has driven both (04-05 and 06)

also are there any differences in transmission? i think i read somewhere that 06 tranny was smoother? maybe it's because it's newer...not sure.

i'm currently looking at 05 GPW with 10,XXX miles which is ridiculously low for around $23k and 06 LBP with 21,XXX miles for $21k

I can't make up my mind because I like GPW more...

which one would be a better choice?

GPW is the fastest color
I personally would not like the DBW. I would go with the older of the two AP2s. Drive em both and see which you like better.

I'll bet no one here could tell that the 06 and 07s are DBW in a blind drive test. And NO! You can not use my car for the blind drive test.

While the color choice is important, it's nothing compared to the overall condition of the car. Check the service records, be thorough in your evaluation of each car, and don't be surprised if you have to keep looking for that special S2000.

From a practical stand point, does the MY06 have some warranty left (not extended, but regular manufacturers warranty)? When looking at used cars, I prefer those with manufacturers warranty remaining before those without it.

From a modding perspective...the MY06+ are starting to get some really good mods...some of which older s2ks can't get. The Hondata reflash for example. Plus, the Kraftwerks supercharger was designed for the MY06+ first, with help from Hondata on the tuning for the high boost version.

Generally speaking, the first year of a redesigned car will have the most reliability problems.. check out consumer reports for specifics. I ended up going with an 03 instead of an 04 for that reason.

DBW is undetectable, VSA is a potential life saver, and LBP is the best color.

Easy choice if you ask me

Coming from someone who currently has both cars, I disagree. I could tell with a blindfold on and so could the passenger if they paid attention. My '08 has a delay in the throttle driving around town with partial throttle applications, my '05 doesn't. It feels like a real quick fuel cut followed by acceleration. Happens at least once every time I drive it. The '05 is responsive in all situations. Other AP2 v2s feel the same way to me.

I can deal with the problem though and still love driving the car. Hope this helps ebbai!

I must add that I'm getting much better mpg out of the '08 though!
