I'm pretty sure that the silver is silverstone, but I will have my dad open the box and check tomorrow. Either way, I would prefer to have it inside, so it can't be ripped off and I don't have to drill a hole in my trunk. I thought about going with an aftermarket XM ready HU and an XM kit which probably would have been cheaper than just the honda XM kit and with better sound quality, but I like the idea of keeping the stock HU.

I know a couple of folks who have XM or Sirius that simply transmit to an unused FM station without the need to run any extra wiring beyond what is needed to power the satellite radio itself. They seem pretty happy with it. You loose the digital quality because you're now limited to what straight FM signals can process but it doesn't seem to be a big deal for them.

You are correct, it is Sebring. Had it Honda installed on my Silverstone. GREAT job, great looking and hey, call me crazy, but it is nice having controls that work and a radio door that works. It amazes me that there are those who will butcher their cars for a little better sound.

You could get the Blitzsafe adapter sold by autotoys.com and use RCA connectors for a "stand-alone" XM receiver.

There's absolutely "nothing" wrong with upgrading the radio system. You can get a LOT better sound for some fairly reasonable money on a new radio head and speakers. There are also adapter kits that allow you to plug the outside radio control buttons to an aftermarket radio head and you'll get a lot more functionality than just being able to switch from AM to FM to CD, change channels limited to the preprogrammed presets only, control volume, and mute. Just check out Modifry's adapter that's sold in the Marketplace at Modifry's DCI (Dash Control Interface).

As far as I know, nobody has "butchered" their car while making these kinds of mods. The post in this conversation that you're probably referring to was a lousy install job and that person got the situation taken care of.

The Modifry DCI has Speed-Sensitive-Volume control... works well for me with my Alpine 9850XM.
