Default Would you recommend the s2000 to be a daily driver

i live in pa...so we do see all types of weather....obviously i'm not worried about the summer, but in the winter it snows....etc...so i might have to drive in snow a few days out of the year....

i know this topics probably been asked 100 times...but oh well heres 101....

would the car be a bad daily driver???

i only work 4 miles away from my house...so i'm in the car for about 15 to a from work......

i'm 24, have no kids...etc....so i'm just looking for something fun to drive....

i figured a s2000 or e36 m3 convert???

is the 2 seater a pain the ass??? i look at as an excuse not to drive....hahha

i haven't gotten in an accident in 3 years...so how much do you guys my age pay for insurance...oh yeah and i havne't had any tickets either....

just any suggestions would help

I used to live in Boston Ma before I came to Dallas and even with snow tires it was still a pain in the @ss to drive the S around in the snow. Due to the low clearance from the roadway to the bottom of the car, it was also hard to get out of parking spots.

I finally got a beater and the problem was resolved.

I haven't got a problem with mine being a daily driver. But then again I haven't seen any snow yet. (It will come)! And 2 seats is definately not a pain in the ass.

Funny how mine is also a good excuse for not driving places.

Daily driver, snowy climate, only car....

The S2000 works best as a second or third car. I drive mine to work every day, but I wouldn't do that in the snow.

I'm looking to get one as a daily driver too. I guess you just have to go slow in the snow as with any RWD car. But in the summer I think the car will really come into play with the drop top.

You're in the wrong part of the country for this to be your only car.

Get a beater for the dead of winter and this for spring, summer, and fall.

I think it would be a bad idea for you to use an S2000 as a daily driver, the main reason being is that you live only 4 miles from work. Car manufacturers say that driving less than 5 miles is considered severe driving. If your work is only 4 miles from your home, you will never get your S2000 up to optimal temperature. I think a reasonable alternative is to get a beater car.

Keep in mind, where you live, it will take even longer to warm up your S. I'm talking like at least 15 miles to get it hot. Thats if you don't use the heater You don't want to just get it warm, it needs to be hot. By getting it hot, you burn contaminants out of the oil as well as condensation inside the engine and especially your exhaust pipes.
