Is it worth it to buy an immaculate MY2000

Default Is it worth it to buy an immaculate MY2000

I see a 2000 s2k with 10k miles on it from an acura dealership, with warranty, for $22k. Seems quite good to me, right?

Well would it be more worth that $22k to buy an MY02+ s2k with more miles? Or to go with a car such as the MY00 with very low miles in perfect condition?

Can you guys give me an idea of what the depreciation might be like on an s2k after I drove it for maybe 4-5 years or and put maybe 40,000 miles on it?

seems kinda high.. I paid $700 more for an 02 with 18K miles on it about 4-5 months ago. And that included the extended warranty and TTL.

Bought an MY00 with 8K on it. I paid more than market as it was impecable and I will drive it on weekend only and will keep it for a long time. As local market condition to a degree dictate car price I will not get into a lenghty discussion as to if the price is right or not. What I will tell you though is that a cars in showroom condition with low mileage calls for a premium. My question would be what will you do with it? If its your daily driver and you will keep it for a couple of years you are probably better off with an MY02 with slightly more mileage. If you are buying it for the long run, and will drive not drive it often, then a MY00 with very low mileage might be interesting considering as it is the first year of production (which should bring higher prices for collectors). The idea here is to keep the yearly mileage low.

In either case I would recommend that you find one with odometer tampering (dealer can tell from servicing if done through him), no accident record or damage, and that has been serviced properly and in a timely manner.

My 00 with 44,000 miles was only 16,800 from a private seller. It was garaged and meticulously cared for by a retired man/car enthusiast. Don't buy from dealerships, buy from private sellers. It saves you 3-4 thousand dollars. Even if something goes wrong and you have to fix something, you still save money.

I did the same thing, and got MY00 last June with 2,4xx miles on it and it came with an new car warranty. It was so clean that I had a clear bra put on. I like having the first production year and knock on wood without any major problems that couldn't be fixed.
Get what ever year that you like better, mint or a little beat . Some things you can just fix, cover up or mod oooh the mods.
You can be the judge of what you can live with, just take your time the right one will show up.

Great advice. Even though they all look similar, you'll know when you find the right one. I was torn between a berlina black 01 that I found, and a silverstone 03 with only 5,000 miles. But when I found my 00 NFR in such great shape, and for such an amazing price, I knew it had to be mine!

I bought a MY00 with 14,000 miles for $20,000 and it was in perfect condition. I would try to bargain at least down to $20,500. I was planning on getting an AEM EMS, so the extra umpf from the MY02 ECU wasn't a concern. I've had zero problems with the car thus far and love it. Good luck.

Alcoholic, I don't know where you are, but there's a Honda Certified MY04 with only 8831 miles for sale in Alabama for $27990.
I test drove it and was going to buy but my husband decided to but me a new '05 instead after we found how well they retain their value.

If it's still available, you can get it for less. I think it's a good deal.
