The Worst Cars For The Money
http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_cont...-for-the-money/
Pretty ho-hum boring article until you read the last bit about the Mitsubishi Eclipse:
"The Mitsubishi Eclipse offers aggressive sports car styling, but critics claim it lacks the power and agility they expect in a sports car. This contributes to an underwhelming performance in the U.S. News rankings. The Eclipse isn't such a bad deal if you just want to look the part of a speed racer - there are just other sports cars that are better. The Eclipse's sticker price undercuts most of its rivals. The car will run you about $40k + to own over five years - about $5,000 less than the Honda S2000. The Eclipse's sales numbers confirm that it has loyal buyers. Sure, sales are down about 38 percent from a year ago, but the Eclipse still sold better than the S2000 or Mazda Miata. The Eclipse just received a refresh for 2009, which means it probably won't be going anywhere soon."
WTF?? Does Yahoo know what an Eclipse is? A bloated FWD econo-car! Way to go Yahoo.. Eclipse buyers are more loyal than S2000 buyers

Even Consumer Reports has a far better grip on automotive reality than those jokers. They seem to think very highly of the S.
Mitsubishi will be lucky to survive the year in North America. I wouldn't be surprised if they got out of the car business all together as they are not really a "car" company.

Uhh... weirdest comparison ever. Since when did the Eclipse compete with the S2000 or Miata?! They might as well said the Mitsubishi Eclipse costs only $300,000 less to own than a Ferrari Modena over 5 years but it still outsold every Ferrari and Lamborghini model combined for the year.
That article is a load of crap. Compare it to its real competitors (Mazda 3, Mazdaspeed 3, Honda Civic Si, Volkswagen GTI, etc.) and tadaaa, magically the Eclipse now costs more, underperforms, and has crappy sales. I see about as many new Eclipses as s2k's on the road (which aren't that many) and for it being a sporty FWD mass produced econobox, that shows just how "loyal" Eclipse customers are. Thanks OP for the good laugh!
