Also make sure not to plow through snow that had been plowed, melted and then re-froze. Otherwise you might ruin the front end of your car...its like hitting giant boulders.

There's only 3 ways to resolve the issue, and all cost money (I guess we're wondering why you bought a sports car knowing full well that sports car need maintenence money in reserve):
1) beater
2) snow tire
3) sell your s2000 (prob at a loss) and get a beater

had RWD with summer tired in NYC for 2 years and i got lucky and had very little snow. about to get a MY08 s2k after turning in my last lease and was worried about it because it is a small car on top of the tire situation.
my whole thing is even it there is ONE or TWO storms a year that is like what 5, 6 days of no driving???
for my personally it's worth losing a week of driving to enjoy 51.
if it is a rough winter i can just pop on snow tires so for yourself being in NE, your best bet is snow tires and for a major blizzard just stay home. even people with regular cars stay home, unless you have a major SUV or truck. especially in NE where the winters get brutal.

Buy a bike or walk. It will save you a trip to the gym
driving 1,5 miles is murder on your car. nothing gets warmed up properly, you get a lot of condensation in your exhaust and engine that freeses up again.
