personally I think it's stupid to drive the S2000 in the snow and risk wrecking it when you can easily find a nice civic or accord beater for $1,000 and use that as your snow/ice car. Just think. One accident in the S2000 because of the winter road conditions and you could easily have paid for a beater with your deductible and insurance hike! My insurance is lower having more than 1 car!

i would say that getting a mid 90's subaru is the best idea. they are easy to find at or under $1000 if you are willing to have one that isn't so good looking.
what i used to do was i would buy one in late october, and sell it near the end of the ski season. i almost always broke even or even made some money...

snow tires + S2k = just fine in winter. no, snow won't hurt your top. yes, obviously salt is bad... so wash it regularly. you'll be fine. you definitely won't be the first to run the S in winter.

I love driving my S in the snow. On Dunlop WinterSports, I get plenty of traction. No VSA, and also my ABS is non-functioning. Wheeee!

The "S" is all right in snow just be careful and Im sure it helps to be on winter tires but Ive driven through 2 pretty harsh winters on all seasons without too much hassle.
Im honestly considering renting a car for the winter months though, I talked to a local S2ker and he made me kinda see the light on renting a winter car
