Windshield repair in Austin
just got a chip on my s2k windshield this morning... about the size of a dime. does anyone know of a good place to take it to in austin? or do i have to replace the whole windshield?

if its a chip, get it fixed pronto. just look in the yellow pages. most places will come to your home or work and do the repair right there. also, depending on your insurance, it should be free - they should cover it or reimburse you. call em up for verification and the process.
also, if you want to come out to the Austin area happy hour, we'll be at Waterloo this evening.

We usually get there... what is it, somewhere around 6? maybe 6:30 or even some people show up around 7pm. Its the waterloo on 38th and Lamar. even with a busted windshield, we hope to see you there. if you call your insurance company now and a windshield repair company, you *might* be able to get it fixed before happy hour. keep in mind, if you must replace the entire windshield it will not be cheap. I'm on my second windshield, and another local is on her third! they are ~500 for install and materials, unlike the 150 you might be used to in other cars. I hope it can be 'filled' or repaired. If it cracks and spreads that might be able to be stopped. It all depends. But if its a chip, or a small crack, they can repair that and prevent it from spreading.

Randy you make it sound like it is an Austin affair; you are going to scare smokins2k.
Disclaimer: the rate at which some Austin S2000 owners go through windshields is in no way directly related to this city.

Call Jeff's Windshield repairs. I had a dime sized chip in mine too, you can't even tell it was ever there anymore. He uses industrial grade epoxy, a UV curing light, and high pressure injector. I have tried a kit from the store for my accord. It does not work and will not last over time. So far the S2000 repair is perfect, and waranteed for the life of the windshield. The sooner you get it done, the better, so dirt doesn't get in there and the crack does not spread.
Cost is $35. You can probably talk him down to $30 cash. It's just a street corner operation, he comes out to McNeil & 183 about twice a week.

Good luck!
