Me! I went to Home Depot and bought PVC pipe insulation (soft foam). Then I went to JoAnn's fabrics and bought a couple yards of the softest fleece.
With the top up - cut the pipe insulation to the approximate length of the plastic window. Cover with the fleece, pull the tape on the insulation and stick the fleece to it. Wrap the remaining fleece inside the pipe insulation to secure.
I have used it for months, works awesome and cost $6 and 30 minutes.
I did the same making a fleece mat that stays in the flat area where the top folds down.
You only need this for MY00 and MY01 cars.

I did the same thing - only took a couple of minutes. I cut the pipe insulation (for 3/4" pipe) a bit longer than the window, however. I then wrapped it in black felt, and after tucking the ends and all into the slit for the pipe, it looks VERY professional!, Same thing, cut a piece for the back deck. I am not that concerned about the rear window, since I almost never drive with the top up - but this works great, and no scratching.

I used to use a Window Protector Tube but someone recommended just using a towel. A towel works fine and takes up less space in the trunk. I've been using that ever since.

I take a heavy towel, fold it into thirds so that it covers the whole window, and place it under the top flap to hold it in place before putting the top down. I have the Muz mat in the top compartment also. I notice no scratches or marks on my window after a years use. No trip to Home Depot and no fabricating. My wife was miffed when she found the towel missing. It's the price you have to pay!
