This is starting to get truly rediculous. How many people and how many times is it going to take to tell some of you people this fact before you believe it?
WHEN DECELERATING, IN GEAR, CLUTCH ENGAGED, FOOT OFF GAS, ABOVE IDLE RPM, THE INJECTORS ARE NOT WORKING!
Translation: When the injectors are NOT working, no fuel flows through them. In other words, no fuel is being used in the combustion process.
How long are you coasting in neutral? For every revolution that the engine IDLES, it will consume so much fuel.
How high are you revving it when you "blip" the throttle to rev match and at what rate are you blipping it?
To be honest, does this difference really matter?

what about the gas used in rev matching when you downshift? what uses more? that or coasting in neutral?

I always stay in gear until about 1,400rpm or so before clutching in as I roll up to stop lights. If you clutch in and pop to neutral as you roll to the light, the engine is using gas to maintain idle.
Fairly often, I'll rev match downshift and I'm sure the blip uses a touch of gas, but it also saves wear on the brakes, but I suppose it causes a bit of wear to the engine/clutch, though it would have to be a very, very finite amount. The fun factor makes it worth it.
