Wind Noise with Hard top on ??
Hi all,
First time post so hopefully I'm asking this question in the right place. I have my 2001 stook 4 months now and have been forced by Ireland's wonderfull climate (Only 2 seasons in Ireland : Rainy & Winter) to install the hardtop.
I had the hardtop brackets/fittings pre-fitted when I bought the car and fitted the top about 3 weeks ago. I have noticed a significant increase in the wind noise now that the hardtop is fitted. The noise seems to whistle above the front windscreen almost as if the top is not 100% tight.
Has anybody else seen this effect ?
Any ideas much appreciated,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I don't suffer from any windnoise with my hardtop on up to about 110 mph (on a closed track officer ), but that is after quite a lot of adjustments (my noise came from the rear behind the RHD drivers seat)
I would take the car back to your dealer for adjustment, the front catches may need to be re-shimmed - the spec's for the alignment of the top on the windscreen frame are very precise.
Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

The only noise I get with mine is from low on the driver's door, and this is unrelated to the roof. The front edge fits perfectly. I replaced the front latch plates that came with the roof kit, and it went on easily. You may have the old front latch plates. Oh, I do get a little squeaking from the middle of the back edge rubber, right below where the serial number plate is, but it only happens when I go over bumps. Otherwise quiet.

I agree with Mama's suggestion. I'm the same - I don't get any wind noise at all, and I installed it myself. If you go to the HandA-Accessories web page (below) and read the installation instructions for the hard top, you can do the check in the procedure to see if your front latches are shimmed properly. I didn't have to make any adjustments to mine, but yours may need additional shims; either that or your installer didn't swap the striker plates for the new ones which come in the kit.

Thanks guys,
I reckon it could be the front latch plates as the 2 latchs don't seem to grab the windscreen as tightly as I expected.
I'll go back to my garage and see what they can do
Thanks again for the advice, hope you're both enjoying the s2000 as much as I am ...
