Will anything "bad" happen if I try another honda key in my S?
I got a couple of spare keys mixed up and don't remember which is for the S. Will it hurt anything if I happen to try starting the S with the wrong key? It won't set off a kill switch or theft something or another will it? Thanks!

Odds are you wont turn the switch with the wrong key in it but if you do, trying to start it with the wrong coded key wont hurt anything. The immobilization unit needs the correct coded key to start if it doesn't have that code the engine will turn over but not start. There is a brake bypass code that can be entered to override the immobilization unit to start but should only be used in a emergency.

Something aweful will happen...
Your car wont start!!!
Joking aside don't worry about it. First you wouldn't be able to turn the key and if you do, it wont start. No damage to any electonics.

My wife has an Odyssey, and she dropped it off for service. I guess the dealer locked the key in the car, because when she picked it up, there was an extra key. They must have made it to get into the car.
So a few days later she tries to go out, and comes back all in a panic because the car wouldn't start. It just cranked and cranked. I had a look, and realized she was trying to use the unencoded copy key instead of the original. Swapped keys, and everything was fine.
So I guess the "immobilizer" really does work.
