the wife *hates* the wheels...what to do?

Nothing personal Mingster...but I don't like them either...like some previous posts above "it looks like the wheels on a hubcap less trash car" and I would tend to agree....
So, with your suggestion...yeah I would definately agree that you should probably have the color sanded off, and anodized!

I can't believe this conversation! We're talking about 35 pounds of unsprung weight savings - better braking, better acceleration and faster strut rebound. Would you guys weld 9 lb weights on your wheels to look cool?
They are what's best for the car - just powder coat them bright silver if you must, but don't put those barbells back on.

Richard, why not sell them and get the SSR Type C's. They're lighter and if you want, you can get them in the same offset as the Spoons and still get the handling benefits!
either way, as much as I like the way your car looks, I think you should do all in your power to appease your wife

I hate them.
Looks like when people put plain steel wheels with winter tires on for winter.
I never liked that for winter, much less all year long.
Makes the car look cheaper and crappy. is that the Hyndai S2000

The only thing I don't like about them is the offset - sticks out like a lowrider.
Anyway, my offer stands - $500. I know you paid quite a bit more than that, but that's really all they're really worth to me.

Yo Reeces, I like those SSR Type C's also. They look good and they're light weight to boot.
But in the US, I think they call it SSR "Competitions" and the S2000 offsets are not available in the US. Also, in Japan they are only available in Gold and White.
Do you know of any US vendors who carry these SSR rims?

Richard, stay Spoon dude. This is your ride. It's an extension of you. Stay true to yourself. Keep the wheels, cuz you like them.
Tell you're wife that you won't say anything if she starts putting stuffed animals in her car. Maybe you'll let her get those stupid tissue box animal covers. Also, you can let her get like those ridiculous little figurines that some people like to put on their dash.
