Why you shouldn't bank at Wells Fargo
#11
I've always learned that if you don't like the answer from the first rep...talk to their supervisor. If you don't like that supervisor's answer, talk to their supervisor... If you don't like that answer, talk to their supervisor..and so on, and so on... Eventually they will give you what you want.
I am suprised, I've been banking with Wells Fargo since they bought Norwest and they've been really cool when stuff happend to me. Like when an automatic car payment went through on a car that was sold a month and a half before.... Talk to someone higher up, or even better....go into a branch office and explain the situation. They will have a harder time busting your balls about it if they have to look you in the face!
Good luck man! Register.com SUX!

Ahhhhhh...never use a check card online...or to buy airline tickets.............it is a No...NO....
Also This has happened to lots of people using lots of banks.....
I had Wells fargo as a lease company on a prior car and they where the best lease company i ever used.....had awesome cutomer service..........Amazing.........even cut a huge deal with me for being over on milage......I paid 1 cent a mile over instead of 10 cents.
But it does suck when banks screw up.............Just take your business else where!

I think every bank makes mistakes. I too have personal and business accounts with Wells fargo. Two times when I made cash deposits, the transactions disappeared the next day.
Fortunately, I save all my deposite receipts and the transaction histories were recovered.

Hey Cthree -
I know this doesn't help but...
You can take some comfort in the fact that all big banks blow. I work for Citigroup. You would think that as an employee of the largest financial institution in the world, I'd get decent service. We don't. It sucks even for the employees.
I stopped banking with Citi some time ago.
Unfortunately, what we're all experiencing (IMO) is the bad side of the roll up of all these banks. Local banks cared about people and saw accounts for what they were (the assets of living human beings) not just account numbers. I fear that its going to get worse in CA when Citi absorbs Cal Fed and our culture spreads to them.
BTW, we now bank with Bank of America. Actually, I've had at least one account with BofA for more than 10 years (ever since the gobbled up my local bank, incidently). I maintained some accounts with them even when I came to work for Citi because I used to get good customer service and am leery about putting all my eggs in one basket and frankly, Citi has no presence on the West Coast (hence the Cal Fed acquisition). Well, guess what, even BofA is getting worse and worse.
We've been thinking about switching to WAMU because friends and neighbors report good experienced there but I wonder if the "grass isn't greener".

This is why I have kept my account with the local credit union my Dad banks with even when I moved out of state. Small enough that I can get good customer service and talk to an actual person. They don't even have an automated menu at all when I call the main branch; a real person answers the phone!
Another thing, why use check cards at all? I just use a regular credit card and pay it off every month. It's the same thing, but you don't have to worry about overdrafts and the increased liability that the customer usually has with a stolen check card compared to a stolen credit card.
